Olivenhain Real Estate
Olivenhain is located on the Rancho Las Encinitas Mexican land grant. In the 1890's Olivenhain was settled by a German colony. The name Olivenhain is German and means "olive grove". The annual Oktoberfest, Haunted House, summer movie series, craft fairs, and other civic meetings are still held at the original meeting hall built by the Germans. Little Oaks Park on Lone Jack Road is a horse park complete with picnic tables, parking for horse trailers, and a riding ring. It provides access to the trails within Olivenhain. There is a large collection of recreational trails, used by walkers and equestrians in Olivenhain. Right before sunset it is not uncommon to spot hot air balloons. Olivenhain has a "Dark Sky Policy" which restricts lights from street lights, tennis courts, and other forms of light pollution.
