The San Diego area generally is home to excellent craft beer, as well. Stone Brewery, which has been called "All-Time Top Brewery on Planet Earth" by Beer Advocate Magazine, is in Escondido, along with several other great local breweries.

Wildlife
The world-renowned San Diego Zoo is not far, but Escondido itself also features an extension of the zoo experience with its San Diego Wildlife Safari Park. You can go on a two-hour open-air safari and get personal with the animals.
This nonprofit wildlife sanctuary has 300 different species and 3000 animals. It also is devoted to preserving native wildlife habitats.
Activities for Kids
Along with the zoo, which is great for all ages, there are other great activities for children.
Queen Califia's Magical Circle is an interesting and whimsical sculpture park inside of Kit Carson Park. Parents, kids, and even dogs are welcome to take in the sights.
The Escondido Children's Museum is especially good for young children with its many hands-on learning opportunities and space to play.
