Downtown San Diego Real Estate

When searching for Downtown San Diego condos for sale you will find San Diego’s streets are laid out in a grid, making it easy to navigate unfamiliar parts of the downtown area.  Commuting to work with the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System and the San Diego Trolley offer easy service in downtown San Diego. The Coaster – a commuter train that runs from the northern suburbs into the heart of Downtown San Diego – is another popular way to get to work. 

Living in Downtown San Diego

San Diego is the 8th largest city in the United States, but for a city its size, Downtown San Diego has a surprisingly low crime rate. In fact, San Diego’s crime rate is lower than that of the state as a whole, and the state of California has a lower crime rate than the national average. The Gaslamp Quarter covers 16.5 blocks of Downtown San Diego and is on the National Register of Historic Places. This quarter is filled with Victorian era buildings that are still in use today. These buildings are home to a number of shops, restaurants, and nightclubs. Gaslamp Quarter is best known for its entertainment venues, festivals, and other community events. Some of the most famous events in this area are Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp and a Taste of Gaslamp. This area is also the site of a popular St. Patrick’s Day celebration: ShamROCK. One of the benefits of living in Downtown San Diego is that you will be surrounding by music and art. The Civic Theatre in the Community Concourse hosts a variety of performers. Most notably, it is home to the San Diego Opera, but it also facilitates performances by traveling acts. The nearby Copley Symphony Hall was built in 1929. At this time, it was the Fox Theater, but it has since been renovated to provide a home base for the San Diego Symphony. Another popular theater in Downtown San Diego is the Spreckels Theater. It has been in operation since 1912 and as such, it has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. Condos In Downtown San Diego 

The Columbia District

The Columbia District is mostly a commercial neighborhood in downtown San Diego with residential pockets and is located south of Little Italy and Cortez Hill, west of East Village, and north of the Marina District. The neighborhood is currently going through redevelopment including the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan, a $50 project.  Columbia District is notable for its historic Santa Fe Depot where it is the center for the trolley, coaster, and train. Residents and visitors can enjoy several activities in the district, such as the Museum of Modern Art, cruise ship terminals, and Embarcadero Promenade.  Students who live in the Columbia District attend schools within the San Diego Unified School District. Schools include Washington Elementary Schoo, and Roosevelt International Middle School. Students can also attend the private school, City Tree Christian School, or public charter school, The Museum School. 

Columbia District Condos

Bayside by Bosa

Bayside by Bosa, built between 2006-2009 is located at 1325 Pacific Hwy. Bayside is a luxury thirty six story condominium building in downtown San Diego’s Columbia District. Pacific Gate Condos by Bosa

Bosa’s newest "Super Prime" luxury high rise development Pacific Gate located in Downtown San Diego, will be offered for sale to the Priority Interest List early 2016 before the general public. Pacific Gate is going to be forty one stories of exquisitely crafted residences offering San Diego's highest level of amenities and services. HBA is a global design firm creating the signature look of today's luxury brands. The four hundred fifty foot tall tower will offer two and three bedroom residences. The two bedroom floor plans will have approximately 1,240 to 1,948 sq. ft. and the three bedroom floor plans will have approximately 2,034 to 2,608 sq. ft. Pacific Gate by Bosa Downtown San Diego will offer unparalleled services including a Porter, 24-hour Lobby Attendant, and full-time Chef Concierge. There will be a Resident's Guest Suite and Lounge with full Kitchen. Residents of Pacific Gate will have access to a Luxury Fleet of Cars and Private Boat Share. Pricing will begin from the $1.4Ms and residences are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017. Sapphire Tower

Sapphire Tower is a 97 unit condominium building located at 1252 Kettner Boulevard and was completed in 2008. The condos are single story and range from studios to penthouses. TREO

East Village

East Village is the largest neighborhood in downtown San Diego and is located in east downtown and west of interstate 5. It is adjacent to Cortez Hill, Columbia, the Gaslamp District, and a small portion of the Marina District. East Village was formerly an area full of warehouses and vacant lots. Today, the warehouses are converted lofts and residences, and there are plenty of mid-rise complexes, luxury condominiums, and lofts.  East Village is also the center for arts, culture, and education and home to Petco Park, which was built in 2004. The two entrances are at 321 10th Avenue and 350 11th Avenue. The ICON amenities include the legendary ICON Skybox a rooftop stadium and viewing terrace with BBQ’s, 5th Inning Lounge, ICON Theater, fitness center, and 24 hour attendants and security.

The Legend

Parkloft

Parkloft is a 120 unit condominium building located at 877 Island Avenue and was completed in 2002. The condos are industrial style with cement accent walls and exposed ductwork. Union Square

Union Square is a gated condominium building with over 250 units and is located at 1480 Broadway. The Marina District

The Marina District was a former industrial and commercial anchor of downtown San Diego and has been redeveloped into an established neighborhood full of shopping, restaurants, residences, and activities. The Marina District is located at the southwest end of downtown San Diego southeast of the Gaslamp District and north of the Columbia District.  The Marina District was initially developed by Alonzo Horton as he was building the Gaslamp District.
