Carlsbad is a fairly new and growing city yet its history as a settlement dates back to mid 1760s when Spanish explorers landed in the area. Today, it is just now getting its wings as a modern day city with schools, stores, homes, and restaurants going up all the time. Year after the year the city has grown until now the population of Carlsbad is well over 110K people. Though it is a very affluent community where the average home is listed at double the statewide average, the atmosphere is very laidback and easy - likely attributable to the Zen SoCal surfer culture. Some of the Best Beaches 

Drive north up the Pacific Coast Highway and eventually you will run right into the City of Carlsbad. This small affluent town is made up of largely quiet families and outdoor explorers. Whether strolling the beaches or driving along the coast, you are never far from some of the best beaches in San Diego County in Carlsbad. Any time of year, you will see serious surfers looking for the best place to hang ten right here in Carlsbad. Yet surfing is not the only past time for this active and vibrant community. There are plenty of places to water-ski, to paddle board, and to kayak. Perhaps the best feature of Carlsbad beaches is their thin crowds. Unlike places closer to the heart of San Diego, Carlsbad beaches are much more secluded and less populated than most other beaches in San Diego. Plus Carlsbad is home to the State Beach where you can go fish or boat out into the ocean.

Schools in Carlsbad

School aged Carlsbad residents attend schools that are part of the Carlsbad Unified School District. Overall, the schools in Carlsbad are among some of the best not just in San Diego County but statewide and across the country ranking 8 out of 10 on the overall quality of Carlsbad schools. There are over 10K students in the school district, which includes students from San Marcos and Oceanside who are also part of the Carlsbad Unified School District. Though some of the schools date back to the founding of the school system in Carlsbad in the early 1870s nearly all of them have been thoroughly renovated and updated to reflect today’s technologically advanced learning environment. There are a total of eight different elementary schools in Carlsbad, four Middle Schools, two high schools, and two alternative schools. For those with children who rank a good education as one of the top factors for buying a home, settling in Carlsbad is one the best choices you can make.

Carlsbad Recreation

For fun residents of Carlsbad generally hang out at the beach or take hikes along the many walking trails that encompass the neighborhoods. The Agua Hedonia Lagoon is a popular destination for fishers and nature enthusiasts. The protected area is well maintained and preserved and the discovery center teaches visitors about environmental responsibility. There are many future projects planned for the City of Carlsbad including a new community center, a complete renovation of the Westfield Mall in Carlsbad, and a new water plant, which should bring in plenty of new jobs. Carlsbad Real Estate

Aviara neighborhoods include Aldea, Aviara Point, Avocet, Azure Cove, Bella Lago, Cantala I and II, Carina, Isla Mar, Mar Fiore I II and III, Tramonto, Trevira, and Viaggio. La Costa is a community that broke ground in 1965 designed around the La Costa Resort and Spa. Property ranges from estates to country club homes, to affordable condos. Bressi Ranch is a newer community that has a Village Club with community events, 2 pools, a spa, outdoor fireplace and barbecue.

Carlsbad Beach Houses

When searching Carlsbad beach homes for sale you will find beach houses in Carlsbad where you can walk to the beach are located across the 101 in Hanover Beach Colony, Poinsettia Cove, Waters End, and the Carlsbad Village.  The North Carlsbad beaches begin at the Oceanside border and end near Pine Ave, at the Carlsbad Village. You can access the North Carlsbad Beaches at Carlsbad Village Drive, Grand Avenue, Christiansen Way, Beech Ave and Rue des Chateaux.  

Carlsbad Beaches

Terramar Beach is South of the Carlsbad power plant and north of Palomar Airport Road. Lifeguards patrol the area in their vehicles, but there isn't lifeguards on duty. There are no pubic amenities at Terramar. Tamarack Beach, or Carlsbad State Beach stretches begins south of Tamarack Avenue, to Carlsbad Village Drive. Tamarack Beach is very family friendly with public amenities. You can fish off the Carlsbad jetties near Tamarack beach and campgrounds. South Carlsbad State Beach is where the campgrounds are and stretches from Palomar Airport Road to La Costa Ave. One of the widest and most family friendly beaches in San Diego, South Ponto Beach has public amenities. South Ponto Beach is located across from the Batiquitos Lagoon.

Carlsbad beach houses for sale

Terramar

Located west of the Carlsbad Flower Fields, Terramar is located in Carlsbad, California. It is a small neighborhood community located on the Terra next to the Mar, which means beach. 1/4 mile off shore is the Terramar Reef which is what this community is named after. There are only five residential streets Carlsbad Blvd, Tierra Del Oro Drive, Shore Drive, Los Robles Drive, and El Arbol Drive. Off of the bluff with steps leading to the landing, Terramar has one of the very few privately gated community access beaches in San Diego.

Hanover Beach Colony

Hanover Beach Colony is a beach resort community located across the street from the Carlsbad State Beach. There is a community, pool, park, and spa. The homeowners association is very low $161 per month as of 2012. Many Hanover Beach Colony homes have generous ocean views.

Poinsettia Cove

Poinsettia Cove is a gated one hundred seventeen beachside community across the street from the South Carlsbad State Beach. Poinsettia Cove has a community grass volleyball area, picnic tables, barbecues, tot lot, and a basketball court.

Bressi Ranch Real Estate

Calavera Hills Real Estate

Olde Carlsbad Real Estate

Olde Carlsbad is considered by locals the true center of Carlsbad and is also where the city of Carlsbad began in the 1800s. A lot of the homes near the coast were built prior to the city’s incorporation. Today, this area is one of the more desirable areas of Carlsbad as homeowners are updating their custom beach homes. Living In Olde Carlsbad

The Carlsbad Marathon also runs through Olde Carlsbad along Carlsbad Boulevard. The Carlsbad Village Association helps improve the village, and the Carlsbad Historical Society hosts self-guiding walking tours of points of interests, including the Old Santa Fe Depot, Frazier’s Mineral Well, Twin Inns, and the Magee House. Parks in Olde Carlsbad include Holiday Park and Hosp Grove Park. Students attend schools in the Carlsbad Unified School District such as Buena Vista Elementary School, Valley Middle School, and Carlsbad High School.

Buena Vista Village
